Description: A bar frequented by Boracay locals,
Bom Bom has bean bags and straw mats on the beach for visitors to lounge on with their drinks. Drinking on the beach, as opposed to the pedestrian path, gave us quick access to the
balut (boiled duck egg, fetus intact) and
chicharon (pork rinds) vendors, both perfect matches with our cold beer. We always ended up here before and after dinner because it's not like the other, more popular bars in the area (that would be Summer Place) where you are elbow-to-elbow with other tourists. I come from a city where that kind of bar scene is common, and I'd rather be in a different atmosphere when I'm on vacation.
I've mastered the act of Blowjobs here, sipping shots of tequila and Kahlua with a straw before the flames around the glass's rim (lighted with the help of gin) go out. Or before my eyebrows burn.
All the bars in Boracay charge a ridiculous P500 corking fee (referred to as "corkage") if you bring your own bottle of wine. It does not matter if your group is ordering other drinks all night. At Bom Bom, the waiters were nice enough to pretend they didn't see us with our Shiraz as long as we kept the San Miguel beers coming.
