Red Roaster Cafe

At the very bottom of St. James Street in Kemptown, lays the glorious Red Roaster coffee bar. The cafe is completely independent and has a unique continental atmosphere not found anywhere else in the town.
First and foremost is the coffee. As they roast their own, I rate it as not only the best in town, but the best coffee I have ever tasted in England. A selection of cakes and snacks are available to accompany, with a light sandwich menu during lunch times only. This friendly retreat offers an oddball selection of newspapers and magazines to read.
The crowd here is a complete mix, from the young flirtatious student, sitting centrally so everyone can see her, to the collection of young mothers in the far corner. From the young gay crowd mixing near the entrance sofa to the foreign students gathered around with their study books and laptops. Add a selection of business people and some retirees enjoying the selection of teas, it seems everyone is here and enjoying the mix; even dogs welcome.)
Relaxed alternative sounds drift in the background making the perfect accompaniment.
The cafe has recently added some dramatic wall hangings. Also, check the forthcoming shows, it is now hosting live music some evenings.
One request: later hours please!
