There are many local outdoor markets in Vienna, but the Naschmark is the largest and the best-known. Located just a short walk from the major sights downtown, the Naschmarkt is bustling six days a week. On Saturday, head to the end of the market (away from the city) to poke through the Flea Market. Not exceptional quality, but you never know what you will find. The Naschmarkt is full of stalls vending fruits, vegetables, breads, cheeses, wine, flowers and many specialty stalls. The ethnic influences of the city are reflected here and you can find regional specialties such as Indian, Turkish, Chineese, Italian, Greek, Bulgarian and others. This is where to get the freshest produce in Vienna and many people walk through the market snacking, or "naschen". A good place to pick up ingredients for dinner or a cheap lunch. The goods are less expensive as you walk away from the city, the stalls closest to the First District are priciest. And mind your bags and wallets as this area is common for pickpocets.
