Why Would you Waste your Time Here?

This is for the Negril location. Brutal service. Brutal food. Brutal Prices. Our group visited this place twice, but I only went once. My expectation was that service would be as good or better than local establishments. The menu selection is not great, the food and drink prices are expensive, the "standard" 18% gratuity automatically added to the bill is outrageous considering the service (or lack of it). Our group meal was served in 3 waves - all of it was cold. Drink orders would never arrive after repeated requests. Every single person was disappointed with the food quality and taste. Most of us were sick shortly after leaving. In the two trips to this place our group lost 2 pair of sandles, 2 room keys, a driver's license, and a digital camera. No one expected the items back; however, we all agree that in most other establishments we would have been able to return and get our items back. In general, our experience was that the more "North Americanized" the establishment, the worse the food the and the service. In contrast, the shack on the beach or along the road had excellent food, great service, and very reasonably priced.

Not Bad in the Daytime Either!

Not Bad in the Daytime Either!

I was there on a trip to celebrate sweet sixteen with my three good friends and our daughters. (Our beautiful daughters all turned sixteen on the trip.) We strolled down the breathtaking seven mile beach to see what all the hubub was about at Margaritaville. Super cute layout right at the end of the seven mile sand strip. Even in the laidback daytime we enjoyed a leisure drink at the bar while our young daughters ate some yummy food at a table on the patio (beachfront). While we drank some classic margaritas our sixteen year olds sipped on virgin margaritas that the AWESOME bartender graciously created for them. It was weird paying for everything when we left (we were staying at an all inclusive after all) but worth the walk, the girls loved it! Great photo opportunities. Different atmosphere in the daytime, comfortable, quiet and friendly!

Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville

We went to Margaritaville with a bus from our resort. The bus was free (yeah! as nothing in Jamaica is ever free), and they had several buses going back to the resort at different times of the evening. I got the impression that the buses were a courtesy of the bar, as when leaving, the buses stopped at most of the resorts along the way to drop off passengers. The bus was very nice—a definite party bus! Before they get you on, they have you all put on lei's, and they give you take along cups for your drinks from the resort. When you get to Margaritaville, you are greeted with intense and fun Jimmy Buffet music and videos. They have some adult games up on their mini-stage (I would leave the children at home for this during the evening), and they have a bird mascot that gives out free shots of tequila! The food, I found was pretty poor, though. I had the veggie burger, and it tasted like cardboard. When I informed my server, she just took my plate away. She didn't offer me anything else, and she left it on the bill. As a server, I KNOW this is poor service. They have a nice bonfire on their beach, though, which is connected to the bar. There they also have a statue of the World's Largest Rum Runner. I would be interested in going back here, as they had two water trampolines out, which I would love to use! My only real complaint was that the fun only lasted about 2 hours, after which the bar died down to nothing. I would recommend adults to check this bar out at least once. I will be going back, but for drinks only.
