Description
Built in 1924, this heritage-listed establishment was formerly a hostel for public servants seconded to Canberra. Officially opened as a community arts centre 1981, Gorman House now plays host to a number of Canberra's performance and visual artists, including many theatre and dance companies. There are five small theatres providing intimate venues for a variety of performance styles. Outdoor courtyards offer an alternative performance site, particularly in summer. Art and craft markets are also held at Gorman House every weekend, as are a number of exhibitions from local artists.
