The Franciscan Well is a great little brewpub across the street from the river in Cork. They have several different styles of beers brewed onsite. Additionally, they have quite a variety of beers from all over Europe. It was there that I tried a beer called Kelpie. It comes from Scotland, and it quite literally has seaweed in the mix with the barley. It has a rich, chocolate-y taste and I found it to be quite pleasing. The atmosphere at "The Well" is laid back and there is a nice large beer garden in the back. From there, you can see the large copper brewing tanks where the finest beer that I have ever tasted is created. On Monday nights there is a duo of musicians that sits in the corner and provides very fine renditions of familiar songs. They play a variety of instruments and are a joy to listen to. I would give the Franciscan Well my Highest Recommendation.
