Description
Tribute is paid to a variety of foreign cultures through a series of concerts, exhibitions, films, debates and visual performances (dance, puppets, danced drama, theatre and masked dances). In years past Ethiopia has opened the festival with the Saint-Yared choir from the Ethiopian Orthodox Church. Egypt has be represented by Chirine, a storyteller of Arabian nights, and Algeria by the sheikh Salim Sergani, nicknamed the minstrel from Constantine. Other nations traditionally represented include Tunisia, Armenia, Turkey, Mali and Senegal. Most of the events take place at the Maison des Cultures du Monde. Tickets to events: EUR14-20.
