Louie Anderson

If you haven't heard about Louie Anderson then you probably shouldn't go to his show. The reason is that he has been in movies (some minor roles), TV shows (hosting Family Feud), written books, and been doing stand-up for forever. Plus he even had a cartoon called "Life with Louie" that was funny to both kids and adults.

So what can I say about what we saw? Well, first, the tickets are only $50 each which for a Vegas show is cheap for such a well known star. Second, as you enter you get your picture taken and at the end of the show you can pick them up for $20 with Louie magically appearing like you are best friends. Third, the showroom is quite small and we got good tickets just hours before the show (the first row last seats at the end table.) Fourth, the guy is funny. If you want a fairly 'clean' show then go because he is almost as clean as Bill Cosby.

His comedy is about his life, and general things that are going on in the world but he also talks with the audience and was able to have some fun at the expense of those sitting near us. But if you are the butt of his jokes don't fret because he gave away a few of the pre show pictures away free for those he liked the best (made fun of the most).

This was probably the best show we went to all week and that included Brad Garrett, George Wallace, and David Spade. They were all funny but he was the best by far and price wise the cheapest of the bunch (about $20 cheaper per ticket less than the rest.)

His show has been playing for some time at the Excalibur for 5 or 6 days a week so you should be able to get tickets like we did.

But at high season the tickets may be a little hard to get and with the way Vegas changes he could be gone in a month. Plus we tried to see him a few years ago and he had to cancel the show due to health reasons. Plus according to some of those in Vegas he even had some health problems in July of this year. So go while you can.

So what didn't we like? The seating is at tables and we are not fans of those types of seating. We would rather be in stadium seating but for a few dollars more you should be able to get to the luxury booths which we didn't know about when we got the tickets.
Also the show is at the Excalibur and this is one of those hotels with a lot of families (which means plenty of kids). But that is really all we didn't like.

So if you want to see a good show this is one you should choose.

We took advantage of the free monorail. We boarded at the foot of the sphinx and first rode to Mandalay Bay, then back to the Luxor and on to Excalibur. Our contacts with the staff at Aladdin, Bellagio, Wynn, MGM Grand, and Luxor had all been satisfactory. We accepted that as the standard for Vegas. Then we visited the Excalibur. The staff we talked to were universally surly. This was also the shoddiest casino we had been in. This includes the food court area. The Krispy Kreams we bought weren’t the only things that were sticky. We hailed a cab.

This is one of our favorite gambling spots. There are lots of penny slots to choose from. The penny slots were very good to us here. Jennifer played the Sno-Globes penny slots, and every time she played it, she won big as far as penny slots are concerned. I thought she was going to beat up an older couple who were sitting at the machine on one of our visits there. I won on the Men in Black Penny Slots (these slots are a continuing theme for most of our gambling triumphs).

This was a decent enough casino--one could do a lot worse. However, the drink staff was horrible (it took 4+ hours for my wife to get a drink). If you aren't winning (and their slots were very tight), you may as well get drunk while you're miserable. I'd suggest the Palms or Mandalay Bay for gambling--both a little nicer, despite the smoking.

The Excalibur is an exciting place for children. They have free children's shows daily: from what I saw, every hour on the hour. The shows include puppetry, jugglers & musicians. They include musicals, which really attract the attention of young children. Our kids, 3 years old & 9 months were both captivated by the shows! It also was enjoyable for my husband & I, however, most of all, it was a wonderful break to sit down & relax.

On the lower level, Excalibur has Fantasy Faire Midway, which are carnival games for all ages of children. They have an assortment of prizes, which are relatively easy to win. We were probably there for an hour & walked out with 10 stuffed animals for our 3 year old.

You'll also find the Wizard's Arcade down there with all kinds of video games, virtual reality video games & air hockey. They also have a motion machine film ride, which is very entertaining! So for family fun & entertainment, try the Excalibur!
