Relaxed Elegance in KL

Food and eating is a favourite activity in Kuala Lumpur, and the variety is astonishing - you'll see everything from high-class (and high priced) international hotel restaurants to roadside kitchens, packed with eager diners at 4am on a Tuesday.
What I found astonishing about Alexis Bistro was how it seemed to sum up everything that was good about KL food, but present it in such an elegant way. You have the choice of everything from Alexis's unique take on the local favourite - Nasi Lemak - where the coconut rice is accompanied by a fragrant chicken curry and artfully presented egg and sambal, to the most chic European dishes made with the best local and important ingredients. You can then wash it all down with everything from a cool draught of Tiger beer or the very top Bordeaux wines, especially imported by Alexis. And the prices are very reasonable considering the obvious effort gone into.
The atmosphere in the restaurants is relaxed and the staff are corteous and friendly, and every Friday and Saturday evening things hot up with live music from artists as far afield as the UK the USA and Australia.
