Brighton Festival

The Brighton Festival is an annual event, that runs throughout May. Brighton being what it is - it attracts a lot of very interesting acts - one off's - major attractions, independents, main stream. Everything from comedy to theatre, to art to workshops to dance to people opening their gardens to the public.

The month is full of fireworks and parties and free events. The vibe of Brighton is truly multi-cultural during this time. With street artistes and musicians whiling away their time as you amble from event to event. The events are all well publicised, and most local cafes and bars have free programmes for you to pick up.

Living here - after a while it can all seem too much - with parties on the beach most nights, and all the tourists it attracts - but it's an amazing celebration of people and talent - so if you have a talent - come on down!!!!

The annual Brighton Festival which runs throughout most of the month of May is supposed to be England's longest, strongest, biggest and boldest arts festival. Events include theatre, opera, dance, stand up comedy, concerts and street theatre.

We checked out the open house gallery show, where selected houses in the area hold one or a few artists' works and allow you to wander through their homes. Like any beach town, there are some spectacularly clever interior design and remodelling being done, and like many beach towns, Brighton attracts artisans of all type, so the open house show did not disappoint.

Venues like the Corn Exchange, a big concert hall with an upstairs disco, hold many of the evening performances . The Festival posts a web site where you can check out the roster of activities, (sorry, you'll have to search for it until I get the URL - to come).
