Greenshields attracts an upscale twenty-to-thirty something crowd. Perched on comfortable chairs and surrounded by walnut-paneled walls, people will look more conservative here than on Hillsborough Street, where tattoos and nose rings flash in the night. Warning: Raleigh has been accused of harboring 'white bread dipped in mayonnaise' style yuppies, and this is where you're likely to find them. On the upside, southern yuppies are still a little bit red around the collar, so they aren't quite as off-putting as they can be in other places. Greenshields brews its own beer--excellent ales and lagers, and they have patio seating. Add to this the fact that in the summer they have live music every Saturday with no cover and I say you should give it a try.
