Description
This internationally renowned music venue is a favourite among record companies both for launching albums and showcasing new acts. Bands of considerable popularity or cult status (Oasis, Lenny Kravitz, PJ Harvey, Ben Harper…) can be found here, and as the venue itself is quite small, music fans are treated to what is undoubtedly one of the best 'close up' musical experiences in London. Despite the top class USA Meyer system, live sound quality has been variable, but a less acoustically fallible club night normally follows the performances. One explanation for the venue's long-standing popularity is the lack of corporate feel. Giving out a more personal and individual air, it's all about right here, right now. The bar itself follows a Tex-Mex theme, and the foyer is full of pictures of bands that have played here, with a written history of many years of great performances taking you down the stairs. A place for serious, alternative music fans and clubbers alike.
Admission: between £6 and £14 depending on act. Please note: there is no disabled access, but disabled customers can arrange to go early and be helped in by bouncers.
