Going to Port Olympic to the discotecas is very touristy but also very fun. It's just one long strip of bars and discotecas along the beach that you can walk in and out and move on. Don't go out to the discotecas before 11pm or midnight. Before that it's all tourists. The locals go out late and that's when the real fun begins. Back home, clubs are definitely not my scene, but in Barcelona the nightlife is a huge part of the city. So go out late at least once, it'll be well worth it.

Barcelona by far has the craziest nightlife I have ever experienced. Nobody arrives at the clubs until about 2:00 in the morning, and they party till about 7:00a.m. Some go out for breakfast and then go home, others party some more at the after hours clubs.

El Row is fun to go to on Thursdays because they usually feature international house DJ’s. Cover (about 2000 pesetas) is sometimes expensive but it includes a drink. Personally, my music taste has slightly changed since.

Discoteca in Poble Espanyol is chaotic and fun on the weekends, usually featuring house and drum and bass. It stays crowded till about 7:00 in the morning and at times they have stage performers and singers entertaining the guests in the middle of the night. At times they are a little selective in their clientele so dress appropriately and don’t wear sneakers!!!

Jamboree, located in Plaza Real, is more of a smaller club which mostly plays hip-hop music. The ladies usually don’t have to pay cover. I liked hanging out there occasionally.

There are also a couple small bars around Las Ramblas like the Dot and Moog that are smaller and less crowded and usually don’t have a cover. Also, if you stroll down the Ramblas between 10:00 p.m. and 12:00 p.m., promoters hand out fliers for free entrances and drinks for the bars around.
