Boy were we ...Read more As we rolled into and through the village of Pitlochry, we hesitantly stopped at Victoria’s Restaurant and Coffee Shop. Admittedly, the name "coffee shop" had us all just a bit skeptical about the dining experience we might have. Boy were we wrong!

After a mandatory bathroom break, we ordered dinner. For Mom and me, it was steak pie and for David, steak fajitas. I know... who goes to the UK for Mexican food? He said he was just looking for something more of a taste sensation. When our dinners were brought out to us, they were really too pretty to eat! The steak pie came with boiled potatoes and the most colorful medley of fresh vegetables imaginable. Green beans, red peppers, broccoli, carrots and squash adorned our plates. The pastry topping on the steak pie was golden brown and flakey light. You must see the photo attached to his review! You will not believe your eyes.

And the flavor was outstanding too! The meat was tender, much like a thick beef stew with carrots and potatoes in a thick brown gravy. The seasonings were perfect blended and provided a simply wonderful dining experience. David said that his fajitas were very good, enjoying every last bite of the tender steak and crispy veggies.

Not that anyone "needed" dessert, but with the meal we had just completed and the fact that we hadn’t indulged in any local sweets, we felt that this was the obvious place to do so. We were not disappointed. We ordered the Banoffi Pie to share which was a sweet biscuit base topped with a filling layer of creamery toffee, topped with thinly sliced banana pieces and a dollop of fresh whipped cream. Presentation being everything, you can see from the attached photo, this was a chef’s delight even more beautiful than our dinner plates. But heck, what good is ordering such a treat if you just want to look at it. The drizzle of strawberry and apricot sauce surrounding our pie, along with several additional banana slices made for an outstanding end to a perfect dinner.

Dinner this night was a bit pricier than the others we’ve had in Scotland. We figured it to be approximately $35 per person, including dessert and tea. We would highly recommend Victoria’s Restaurant and Coffee Shop to anyone who is planning to holiday in the area!

Victoria’s Part Two

We enjoyed our first dining experience at Victoria’s Restaurant so much that we stopped there again on our last evening in Scotland. On this night, David enjoyed the "Salmon on a Cushion," the cushion being lime mashed potatoes. Mom had the chicken Caesar salad, complete with fresh anchovies. We once again indulged in desserts, opting for the warm apple pie served with fresh homemade vanilla ice cream with chocolate drizzle. This review also includes photos from our meal the second night.
