Description: The Silver Spur Steakhouse is located in Frontierland in the Disneyland Park Paris. This area of the park is themed along the lines of the Wild West and this restaurant fits right in with the theming and is designed as a Western saloon club. The outside looks brilliant with a painted wooden facade and railings and steps up to the front.
We had made a reservation for 8.00pm and we were glad we had as there were several people waiting when we arrived as the parade had not long finished and I think everyone was looking for somewhere to eat. As we had a reservation we were able to bypass most of the queue and were asked to wait at the side to be called by a waiter. There were about three families with reservations waiting but we were called through first, perhaps because there were only two of us.
We were shown to our table which was nicely located near the open kitchen grill at the back so we were able to watch the chefs at work whilst waiting for our meal. The restaurant was incredibly busy and I could not see any empty tables at that point and it was quite a large dining room.
We were using our Half Board Plus meal plan vouchers so we were given a copy of the set menu; this restaurant is also available to the standard voucher holders too with a slightly reduced menu.
Our waiter was extremely pleasant and helpful although he was very busy. All of the waiting staff were run off their feet and I was glad we had a good waiter who seemed to be able to cope with the pressure, some of the others looked very stressed.
Our drinks and bread rolls were brought to our table very quickly as well as a huge supply of butter. I do like the way that you get given a basket of rolls rather than just one each because after a day walking and riding in the parks we are always starving by the time it gets to meal times.
After looking at the menu my daughter was a little worried as there were things that she liked the look of but didn’t like all of the ingredients and didn’t want to appear awkward when the place was so busy. However when our waiter returned to take our order he assured her that it was no problem for her to have the Caesar salad without anchovies, the steak with the sauce on the side and the crème brulee off the other menu. He was really helpful and friendly and he had excellent English. I selected the tomato salad, the steak with a cheese sauce and cheesecake with raspberry sauce. I am trying to remember what else was on the set menu, I know there was a chicken main course as well and a soup starter and there were definitely no ribs as those are my daughters favourite.
There was quite a wait for our starters but I was not surprised after seeing how busy the restaurant was. However we did have our drinks and bread and it was nice to sit down after a busy day and enjoy the theming of the restaurant. The seating around the edges is on platforms but we were on the edge of the central area, I imagine if you are sitting in the middle it must feel quite hectic as the tables are quite close together and it is fairly noisy. The interior is as attractive as the exterior with brass light-fittings and wooden balustrades.
When our starters arrived the portion sizes were more than adequate and all of the salad ingredients were freshly prepared, there was no brown lettuce or squashy tomatoes. They were both very nice and we looked forward to our main courses. The plates had patterns of cowboys and lassoes on them.
Our steaks arrived and they were served with a bowl of chips and half a tomato, I did feel a little more garnish or some vegetables would not have gone amiss. I had asked for my steak medium well and my daughter had asked for hers well-done. I would say that they were both a little undercooked for what we had asked for and if you like your steak well cooked all the way through you would have been disappointed. However this suited us as I only order medium well when I am unsure of a restaurant because I hate seeing blood but I do still like my steak a bit pink so it was actually perfect for me and my daughter found hers moist and tasty so was also happy. I had read a couple of reports saying that the steaks here were tough but both of ours were delicious and tender and we thoroughly enjoyed them. The chips were also crispy and well seasoned so the dish was a success.
My dessert was beautifully presented with a small glass of pureed raspberry sauce to go with the large portion of cheesecake, it was lovely but I couldn’t finish the whole portion as I was completely replete by then. My daughter went for her favourite crème Brule which was lit at the table for her and she said it was very nice.
Overall we had a nice dining experience at the Silver Spur Steakhouse. The waiting staff were the best we came across but the environment was a little hectic so although I enjoyed the meal this would not be my first choice of restaurant if I returned although I wouldn’t disregard it either, especially if you catch it at a quieter time of day.
