We were checking in with a friend as we made our way to our hotel from JFK Airport and deciding where to go for dinner our first night in New York City. My husband finished the call and said to me that our friend had chosen a restaurant nearby our hotel, in the Financial District. Great, I thought…we can walk to it easily. Then he told me the name of the restaurant, "Smörgås Chef". I had an instantaneous reaction, picturing the image of the restaurant, well, you can imagine. But boy, was I all wrong!
Their menu is filled with many wonderful temptations, beginning with some different Norwegian-style cocktails they offer from their bar. Naturally, I had to try their famous Swedish Meatballs, of course, and was not disappointed. They only use the freshest of ingredients and I found my dinner deliciously melting in my mouth. The prices are reasonable and the serving portions are ample. Our server was very friendly and efficient and made us feel quite at home.
So, don’t be put off by first impressions. They aren’t always what you think they are. Be open to new experiences, with an adventurous spirit and you might be surprised.
