For a deliciously different pizza, visit Zio. Zio is located on Middleton Drive which is off of Providence Road. The restaurant is on the bottom floor of a building that also houses a more upscale Italian restaurant.
Zio's is the only place in Charlotte where you can get grilled pizza. It may sound weird but trust me, it is wonderful. It is a thinner crust pizza and it gets slightly charred on the bottom. Grilling imparts a smoky flavor to the pie. I had the sweet sausage. It has house roasted peppers, tomato sauce, two cheeses and fresh herbs. Probably the best pizza I have had in Charlotte.
