(Just a few miles down Naaman's Road from this establishment) a group of 8 distinguished women made reservations to spend a festive night of dining at Harry’s Savoy Grill in Wilmington. The restaurant was so exquisitevly decorated that it would have been worth the trip just to view it ,but the FOOD was really the main draw. You can enter the restaurant from the front or back parking lot; the back leads you past banquet rooms but gets you to the main dining area.

We were warmly received and escorted to a lovely table right in front of the fireplace. It was a cold night so this was a welcome spot. The menu was large and daunting but some of us spied the prix fixe menu (my choice when I would rather talk than spend a lot of time making decisions). The prix fixe consisted of 2 courses for $25 and is available for dinner Mon. thru Fri.

I was excited about the Clams Casino and was able to talk 2 others into sampling them; the rest went with the delicious- sounding seasonal salad of mixed greens, cranberries,and goat cheese. The appetizers change frequently but these were perfect for a late fall evening. The clams were juicy,succulent, sauteed appropriately and topped with crisp bacon. A Hot Crab with Artichoke Dip was ordered for the table and was enjoyed by everyone. The bread basket was full of warm and wonderful treasures. Another friend ordered the duck potstickers and I was lucky enough to sample a bite of these. WOW! They also have a wonderful raw bar with an extensive assortment of clams and oysters that I would have loved to have tried.

For the main course 6 of the 8 diners could not resist the Prime Rib (10 oz.)and so it came cooked to order with a cucumber cup filled with creamy horseradish sauce. Two of us went with a free-range chicken that was served with Butternut Squash Ravioli and a most delectable sauce that MADE the dish. The chicken was as tender and flavorful as I expected from free-range. Side dish for all was a lovely squash medley with red peppers.

The highlight for the red-wine drinkers was a "flight" of cabernet sauvignon which was served as 2.oz. each of 4 wines. The bevy of glasses at each diner's elbow made it appear that they were drinking much more than they actually were. As a white wine drinker, I went with a wonderful sauvignon blanc and it was delightful,pairing well with my clam casino and chicken dish.

There was little room for dessert but we ordered a few items, pasing them around for a "taste".
Walking back to our cars we were able to admire again the festive holiday trimmings and all vowed to return again for an evening at Harry’s Savor Grill! It was a great way for us to start our official "Holiday Season"
