Breakfast used to be a time when the family all ate together before they went their separate way. I recall my Mom saying that it was the one meal that allowed you to work and study well throughout the day. Times have changed and now we're lucky if we eat anything at the start of the day.
My wife and I have been to Wild Eggs in the past and today was no different from any of the previous visits. There was a slight wait for a table to open, and it was time recalling my past as a child and how I loved breakfast. We ate a lot of eggs and bacon with toast smothered with real butter. Wild Eggs takes that theme of a well prepared meal to a new level; the same ingredients, with some new items added to each menu selection.
We were seated in a booth where we had a good view of the restaurant. Our waiter was Clay W. and he treated us like we were family.
My wife had a glass of iced tea with her meal which was a Fried Bologna & Egg Sandwich. We've been married 31 years and I never knew she liked fried bologna as a child. The meat was Italian mortadella on a toasted whole grain ciabatta. Also on the sandwich was fontina cheese, a tomato slice, pesto aioli which was new to my wife and me. To top it off, there was an egg cooked over easy on top. Look at the photo and it will get your mouth watering.
As for me, I was ecstatic at receiving a small pot of coffee. The waiter didn't have to keep filling my cup and I didn't have to wait with an empty cup if he was busy with other patrons. My choice was the "ACE" of a "BLT" which stands for Avocado, Cheddar cheese, fried Egg, Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato on toasted sourdough bread. it is served with skillet potatoes. Once again, look at the photos!
I also ordered a side of bacon, which is listed as 4 pieces and we were given five.
There are many tables in an open room and there is a counter which seats people also. There is a second location in town and we have yet to visit that one.
We ate around 10:30 AM, and the meal held us until dinner later that night. If you want a good meal where you are not rushed, give Wild Eggs a try. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and expect a wait, especially on the weekends when people can be seen waiting outside on pretty days. Come with an appetite and look forward to going back in time when breakfast started your day off with family and friends.
