Mini Pastry Fish Donuts

Marcial Kobe - "The place to meet the fine snack" -is a small Japanese pastry shop located in the basement food court of the Central Mall Shopping Center and close to the Kopti Roti. (The Central Mall is located next to the Swiss Merchant Hotel and also the metro stop location for Clarke Quay). The store front is small, but worth the time in finding.
The service there is very friendly, and not as grim and technical as you might imagine a Japanese pastry shop might be. The featured items are very small bite sized pastries and donuts, which are displayed in the counter case where they are kept warm. If you have a sweet tooth, it is defiantely a great expeience trying several types and flavors as a snack.
The best is the 10 for SD4 mini yaki fish pastries, and though the small fish shaped pastries look very cute, you will want to eat them while they are still warm and before they get soggy. We tried the maple, walnut, chocolate, and the custard cream flavors, and found we could not put the bag down because they were so good!
The yaki fish have a chewy texture that has about two bites to it. When you bite down into it, the flavors just burst forth in your mouth and the taste is something like really good french toast and the flavor that you bought. (This just does not seem to be the case when they are not warm). The custard ones were so good that we got 10 of those the next day - with same results of their getting eaten right away.
The mini donuts seem to be hit or miss, and unless they are just finished cooking, I would not purchase them. However, I saw that the sugared donut and the chocolate lovers do prefer the hot mini donuts - and that they are very addictive.
