Outstanding Seafood Restaurant

While on a business trip to Sicily I accompanied a group of colleagues to Maffei's. A small restaurant with an outdoor terrace where we dined under a vine covered pergola. It is not located on the main corso but is only one short block away.

Service is outstanding by an attentive and entertaining wait staff of attractive and knowledgeable young men. The menu is written on a marker board which changes daily due to what fresh seafood is available. Also, a seafood trolley is wheeled out so you can see the fish and choose what you'd like.

I suggest starting out with a Bellini apperitif. Unlike any Bellini i've had before, this one had fresh bits of peach and peach pulp as opposed to just peach nectar. I believe they have a full bar as well. I had some of the freshest and tastiest raw oysters on the planet. They can be ordered by the piece and in fact we just had small bites of whatever the waiters recommended. This enabled us to taste many different dishes. One of my favorites was the squid ink ravioli with lobster stuffing in a scampi sauce and the lobster and champagne risotto can only be described as decadent. They do have a regular menu that has some non-seafood items, but the specialty is definately seafood.

We enjoyed our meal and service so much that we returned the night before we left for a second meal. We were greeted with enthusiasm and treated and old friends. I highly recommend Maffei's.
