In a lot of cities, you can find a morning breakfast buffet that will supply you with the typical entrée of eggs, pancakes, bacon etc. I suggest that you pass on the traditional favorite and indulge your taste buds with some extravagant pastries at a Pittsburgh tradition. It is known as Better Made and has a cult following comparable to that of a small rock band. It lies just on the outskirts of the city and is nearly invisible unless you know what you are looking for. It appears just after the enigma of construction that is the West End Circle and is located on Stueben Street. After traveling up a short hill you will encounter a small white building that is far from pristine. The paint is chipped, the sidewalk is cracked, but the smells are tantalizing. That smell of course would be the delicious scent of freshly baked donuts. Now there are many other donut stores in the city such as Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme, but Better Made donuts are just made better. The phenomenon starts at about 4 a.m. when the pastry chefs arrive at work and start making a fresh batch of donuts. You have to act quickly though if you want a delicious batch of donuts because they sell out. You will find a line of cars parked outside the small shop and make sure to get there early. Then pick your favorite type of donut and enjoy. You can never go wrong with the French.
