A Nice Find in the Old Town

We're always looking for a good place to eat in this popular area. If you're going to "Second City" or a movie or just looking for a terrific local place, this is a great find. We tried it today for lunch, meeting friends who live in the neighborhood and go there often, and we enjoyed it a lot.

The decor is casual, with a painted ceiling and very attractive lighting. The service is good and friendly. The lunch menu offered several appetizers, interesting salads that could be a light meal or a first course, several sandwiches, and then full plates for a main course.

Our friends ordered a chicken sandwich and a quiche of the day. Each was served with a large salad. David and I each had a main course. I had the talapia, which was cooked to perfection with a slight crispiness on the outside; it was served with asparagus, beets, and carrots with walnuts and balsamic vinegar. I loved it. David had another fish, the whitefish almondine which was served with potatoes and vegetables. His also was excellent. The four of us shared a bottle of French rose, reminding us of the "vin du pays" in Nice.

We skipped dessert although several looked interesting, including a chocolate chip bread pudding, a chocolate terrine, and a chocolate mousse. And there were several other choices for the people out there who aren't chocolate lovers.

David and Bernie finished off with cappucino.
