Fantastic Indian Lunch Buffet

I have tried a few other Indian restaurants in the Charlotte metro area and this is the only one I found that measures up to the ones where I used to live in DC. I have only been there for the lunch or brunch buffet and have always left satisfied with the quality of the food.

An insteresting point about this restaurant is that half of it is an Indian restaurant and half is a Brazillian restaurant named Brazas. You get both sides for one price and on the weekends Brazas serves many meats Brazillian steakhouse style. The meats are carried around by the server on large skewers. The serving is interactive, you have to use your tongs to hold or grab the meat from the skewer as they slice it off.

I will start with the Brazillian steakhouse offerings. The bacon wrapped chicken was delcious! The chicken was very juicy and the bacon was not over salty. If only the pork tenderloin would have been as good. They gave me a giant chunk that was very dry and flavorless. The only other meat I tried was the steak. It was OK but a touch too rare in some parts for even my tastes. I like steak medium rare but this piece was still kicking.

On the Indian side there are several great dishes. The first thing you want to do is get a cup of riata and/or chutneys. Riata is a mix of yogurt, cumber and other ingredients that you use to cool down spicy dishes. Chutney are almost like a jam and come in several different flavors. This are good for bread dipping.

The vegetable fritters are one of my favorite items. They are fried and are great to dip in the riata. Another winner is the spinach and cauliflower dish. This is great spooned over the basamti rice and is slightly spicy. Tandoori chicken is also offered on the buffett. It is OK but if you get there too late in the afternoon I have found it to be a little dry. My favorite dish is the Makhani Chicken (Butter Chicken). The sauce is rich and creamy. It is also slighty spicy and is another good dipping pool for the Naan bread.

For those who like really spicy food they can try the pickled vegetables. Pickled vegetables are extremely hot and the very deepness of the red in the dish warns you not to eat it. Very salty and delicious but if you don't have a strong stomach you will be hurting later.
