After a morning of walking around old Fort Smith, treat yourself to some Bar-B-Que at Jerry Neel’s. You will find a lot of Bar-B-Que places in western Arkansas and Eastern Oklahoma, but let’s just say that Jerry Neel’s is a place that you will you definitely not have any regrets about going to. This is where you go for great barbeque lunch in Fort Smith.
Jerry Neel’s ranks with me as the very best barbeque in town and in the region. The reason for this is their sliced beef, which is about as close to heaven as some folks might just get. It is that good! The restaurant atmosphere itself is not really all that great – because the place is always packed with lots of people. Then again, what Bar-B-Que joint that is worth its salt is known for having a casual dining room! Instead – locals come here because they know it is going to be great.
The service is always running somewhere between really good to great at Jerry Neel’s. One of the most difficult things eating here is the choices that you have face after standing in line. Based on the fact that choices will be now likely be based on the wonderful smells – and that the smoked ribs are pretty good – and the smoked sausage is even better – you may just want to go ahead and one of the plates that has all three. If not – just go with the sliced beef – and enjoy the experience. Chances are you will be thinking of it for a long time to come – and be back the next time you are passing through.
