If you are worn out with surly condescending service by non-Italian (and Italian) waiters serving mediocre pricey food in the Campo take a two minute walk to the Rialto and discover what an Italian restaurant should be!
We stayed three nights in Siena this month and ate here every night. Facing the bell tower in the Campo take the first street on the left - Via Porione - and then first (or second?) right onto Via Del Rialto. While the street can appear dreary from within this is a charming family owned restaurant where Papa cooks and daughter Isabella runs the dining room.
If you are with a larger group they have a sunken dining room in a building just across the street surrounded with wine bottles. We saw them accomodate a party of about 20 who simply showed up.
We recommend Osso Bucco, Brasaula, Ribolito and Panzanella like you have never had them before! The Rialto began as a seafood only restaurant and that remains a specialty.
Reasonable prices and credit cards are happily accepted.
Give our regards to Isabella! Kathie and Dave Hughes
