Le Basil: An Exotic Discovery

Le Basil: An Exotic Discovery

Delicious, colorful, fun, mouthwatering, and exotic. If these words are what you look for in an any Asian restaurant, then you need to visit Le Basil in Palm Desert, California.

EXPERIENCE
Food- The food is the best thing and the main reason you should come visit. This restaurant serves sublime Vietnamese/Thai food. My family and I decided to eat here after watching Anthony Bourdain eating Vietnamese food in Vietnam on television. My wife and I decided to start with some Vietnamese freshrolls (kind of like sushi but with a Vietnamese style to it) with peanut sauce to start as an appetizer. The second I put these freshrolls in my mouth, I could easily taste the zest of the flavor. The freshness of the freshrolls sent me to heaven but the mixture with the peanut sauce would bring back down to earth like a feather falling on a pillow in blissful happiness. The next thing I ordered was Pho (pronounced "Fa") with Thai barbecue chicken. At first, I was very skeptical about the Pho because I thought it was just plain soup; however, I was dead wrong. Pho is more than just soup, it is colorful and delicious mixture of broth, meat, vegetables, and noodles- all in a HUGE bowl. In addition, to add flavor to your Pho, you also had sweet hoisen sauce, spicy "rooster" sauce, and Thai basil. What I like about this dish was the fact that you could make the dish into what you like. Being a person that likes to eat spicy foods, I would put tons of "rooster" sauce into my Pho and let me tell you, you will sweat if you do that.

Tip: If eating Pho, make sure you come hungry. Pho is delicious, but it is a big bowl of Vietnamese goodness.

My wife and I decided to share the Thai barbecue chicken. I have to say that this chicken was to die for. The chicken was juicy and wonderfully made. It was so good that I was even eating the bones, cleaning off every little meat that I could find.

Service- The service was outstanding. The waitress my family had was great and responsive yet was not annoying. The one thing that stood out was her personality- It was nice and made my dinning experience more pleasurable. Not only the waitress was great, but the entire staff was on point. Our food to be brought out took at most 30 minutes after sitting down and ordering. You could tell that the staff prepared the food well, but in a timely manner that you could continue to enjoy the dinning experience. Everything was great that I tipped 20% more from the cost of the bill, something I rarely do unless I get the outstanding service.

Price- For what my family got, the price was reasonable. For $49, without the tip, my family got drinks, three main dishes, rice for my daughter, and outstanding service.

MY THOUGHTS AND FEELINGS
It was really difficult to find faults with this restaurant. My family and I enjoyed this place very much that we decided to come back. Even though this restaurant is hard to find, I could tell that this place was very popular because of how busy it got at the end of our dinning. I would highly recommend this restaurant for anyone looking to try something exotic; I think you would be thoroughly pleased.
