All Tastes the Same and Portions are Tiny!

Wook a Chinese Restaurant in Warsaw bang in the centre, opposite the train station underneath the Hotel Marriot. The restaurants which are part of the big Hotels in Warsaw have a reputation as being some of the culinary wonders of the city and I'd heard some good reports about Wook. It's not a place, I would recommend going though. Basically you buy small rectangular dishes with a small portion of whatever you've ordered - dishes are cheap at 6zl but you will realistically need about 4 of them. I find that they stick some mixed vegetables like cabbage underneath and then put a few strips of the meat or other dish you have ordered on top.
The flashy inside is something I'd imagine coming across in Shanghai. The room is dark with a couple neon lights and seating arrangements that look like they are from a magazine, plasma screens show music videos as speakers blast out complete crap (I had to listen to the majority of a live Justin Timberlake concert last time there - awful), there's an open kitchen in the middle. When it's warmed up a bit, there is a more pleasant place to sit outside, a small wooden fence and a tacky green rug is supposed to act as a fake garden as well as a barrier from the deshevelled old drunks dwelling in the train station. Unfortunately they have speakers on the outside too, so there's very little escape from the poor music they play, this in itself is enough to scare off any station vagrants.
Whether, it's duck, chicken or pork, they're all rather salty and taste incredibly similar, this restaurant goes out of it's way to dress itself up as a fine establishment inside but falls at the most important hurdle - the food. Whilst it's often said that there is not much in the way of very good Chinese food in Poland, it may be true but even the cheapest hole in the wall jobbies are on par with this one and 3 or 4 times cheaper and without the in your face screens and music. Not that I'm recommending those ones, after all it was only a few years ago when the police came across a warehouse full of dead cats and dogs, the masterplan of the unscrupulous Vietnamese running them!
The food isn't by any means disgusting, it's just bland and too dear for what it is. Just about the only place in the country except hospitals that is non-smoking.
