Top Class Mexican Food a Long Way from Mexico

It's often hard to find a really good Mexican restaurant - particularly for me, coming from Britain, where I have never found a decent place (though not for lack of trying). The Flying Burrito Brothers is in a great location. It's very central, sitting at the corner of Armagh St and New Regent Street. When you go inside, the decor is very nicely put together, from the colour scheme through the authentic wooden furniture, and the music they play only adds to the atmosphere. It has the rustic, Latin charm that you would hope for from any self respecting Meixcan establishment.

The menu has all the usual Mexican favourites, including a few that sometimes don't appear on a run-of-the-mill place, like chimichangas and tostatas. They also offer several margarita options and some actual Mexican beer, which is always a good sign.

We ordered chimichangas and enchiladas from the relatively inexpensive menu and were not even slightly disappointed. The food was wonderful, from the first mouthful to the last, complimented by an excellent house red wine. Not only did it all taste good, but it tasted authentically Mexican. The dessert menu was far too tempting to ignore as well, and we had a flat white coffee and a tequila lime pie. The latter was tremendous. They use good tequila for their cocktails at the Flying Burrito Brothers and they obviously don't use a cheaper option for their desserts, because it was most impressive and a perfect way to round out the meal.

The only very slight downside was the staff. They had a lot of staff on for a not especially busy night, but we were left waiting to have our dishes cleared and the dessert menu produced for quite some time, despite catching the eye of several waiting staff and actually speaking to one (who then promptly forgot what we had asked them). They were never rude, but we got several different waiters through the meal and nobody seemed to know who was looking after which tables, so I noticed that we weren't the only ones sitting looking around the room a little bemused at times, wondering what had happened to the staff.

Great food, great ambiance, great location, friendly (if inefficient) staff. I recommend this heartily.
