Description: The walkway between the Luxor and the Mandalay Bay has a broad variety of really good shops and eateries. There's some luxury stuff, some affordable stuff, some great galleries and some really interesting bars and the like. The ice bar is worth a look if you have a little extra cash to throw around.
Set sedately off to one side of this little shopping district though is the Zagat rated Chocolate Swan. They boast that they serve the best coffee in the world and the window display of choclates and associated goodies was enough to entice me inside.
They have some magnificent looking indulgences on offer in there. The main counter offers a really interesting range of chocolates, cakes, tarts and associated sweets. The service I received was okay - nothing to write home about but certainly not bad - and I received my order in pretty good time. I had a cup of coffee and a red velvet cupcake, to eat there. The reason I mention that is that this place does charge you extra if you stay to have your coffee on the premises. I wasn't too keen on that, but I decided to stay regardless.
Thankfully, the coffee itself was excellent. It wasn't cheap - two cups of coffee and a cupcake set me back about $13 - but the cake was superb, and the coffee was very good. Aside from that that, the place has a very nice feel to it. It doesn't feel like Las Vegas at all - you could easily stumble onto a place like this off a little side street in Edinburgh or Canterbury - so if you are in the neighbourhood and want to sample a little of something really good then you can do a lot worse than this.
