La Bella Pizza

La Bella Pizza

Let's just say that Mom and I were happy for free delivery of several restaurants during our cross-country adventure. After long days stuck in the car with only short pee or gas breaks along the way, I wasn't about to jump into the car and go look for dinner every night.

Once again, the clerk at the Motel 6 in Amarillo came through again with a take out menu and high recommendations for La Bella Pizza. Not only was it good Kristy told Mom, it had free delivery.

La Bella has two locations in the Amarillo area, and I was not sure which location was closest to our hotel. I placed a quick call to Kristy at the front desk, and she told me the Olsen Boulevard location was the closest La Bella to our hotel. After getting the luggage hauled into our room and somewhat settled, I placed a delivery order to La Bella. I got us the 14" Sicilian Deep Dish Pizza and a large Greek Salad for our dinner. We were told by the girl on the phone that the order would take about 30-40 minutes to be delivered, and that was no problem for us since we needed to clean up and finish unpacking and settling in for the night.

Like clockwork, our food was delivered on time by a nice man who greeted us with a hello and a smile. Our food was about $30 with tip for the delivery guy, which was pricey, but think of how much I would waste in gas wandering around Amarillo for a place to eat. Once again, thank God for delivery!

Settled in for the night and squeaky clean, Mom and I dug into our salad and pizza. The Greek salad wasn't that authentic with iceberg lettuce that I find has no nutritional value whatsoever and black olives and not kalamata olives. No worries! I would have eaten cardboard being so hungry, and I made do with the salad with a packet of Newman's Greek Dressing. The pizza was very good, however. Mom and I stay away from pork, and we ordered our pizza with four toppings, black olives, green peppers, onions, and mushrooms. It was definitely homemade with its funny square shape, but it was very good with a lot of cheese and flavor. Mom and I ate it all, and Loki, who had woken up from his drive-induced coma, enjoyed a little pizza crust as a treat.

La Bella is open from 11 a.m. to Midnight Mondays-Thursdays and from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m. on Fridays and Saturdays. On Sundays, La Bella is open from Noon-Midnight. So if the urge for pizza hits you at an ungodly hour in Amarillo, La Bella is the place to go. With a vast menu and good food, you won't be disappointed!
