I was incredibly surprised to find that no one had reviewed this restaurant to date. Rathbun's has been voted the best restaurant in Atlanta for several year's running and it deserves this title.
There are a lot of fantastic restaurants in the ATL, but Rathbun's exceeded all my expectations for an amazing meal. The menu options are plentiful, and while we went overboard, you could tone it down a bit and eat more economically.
Tips for a budget-friendly evening:
- Bring your own wine. Rathbun's does not charge a cork fee for the first bottle as long as you share a glass with the chef (could save $20-40). Second bottle is $20
- Order as tapas. Their small plates are out of this world - french fries with blue cheese fondue, butternut squash tortellini and many more.
- Skip the second mortgage platters - the main dishes run $17-25, but the 2nd mortgage are $30+
- Save room for dessert - the deserts are small and only $3 a pop and a few bites - won't leave you stuffed, but certainly enough to satisfy your cravings.
Even better, the chefs recently beat Iron Chef Bobby Flay on the Food Network's competitive culinary competition - the secret ingredient was elk. While I'm not sure if I'd eat elk, Rathbun's now has a special menu with their creations from the show.
