For Authentic Japanese Meal and I Don't Mean Sushi

This is a place where most Japanese (like myself) frequent for a meal in a casual pub like atmosphere. If you are tired of sushi and have a hankering for izakaya (tapas) style food, this is the place to go. Of course they do serve sushis too since half of the customers are non-Japanese too. Specialties here are their grilled skewered meat & vegetables and their seafood items. Their minced beef croquettes (in the menu it is written “korokke”) and their seafood salad are also what I make sure to order. Plenty of sashimi piled on top of salad. Their ramen noodle or grilled rice balls (“yaki onigiri”) is a good way to end the evening. Noise level is high here so this is not recommended for an intimate date. Just make sure to steer away from Oyaji himself, owner Hide-san, whom I’ve yet to see being sober! Actually he is a harmless guy who goes out of his way to mingle with customers - sometimes with a bottle of sake that he generously shares with you. Kanpai to that.
