Pizzeria Nowolipki is a pizza place located in the Muranow area of Warsaw. Initially I thought it was unlikely that a visitor to the city would come into contact with it but I was proved wrong by it's proximity to Jewish monuments or the Pawiak Museum that are located close by and generally make it on to most sightseeing intineraries. As I've walked past recently, I've noticed several tables of foreigners - German, French, American.. you name it.

Understandably a tired and hungry tourist who has scoured the streets for everything historical and interesting up until this neighbourhood needs a good stomach fill and this place with it's cosy outdoor section or comfortable air conditioned (or heated in the winter), nicely furnished and visible indoor section will be tempted to pop in. Many a passer by has undoubtedly fell victim to the cooking smells wafting out of the open kitchen on to the street and the first signs including the prices seem promising.

I'm going to recommend that you don't let your sense of smell get the better of you though and try somewhere else, I have a flat very close to this place and have visited 4 or 5 times over the years. I really should stop going though because the quality of food, despite looking superb is actually nothing special.

The pizzas that I've had here have generally been crispy to the point of dry burtnness, the lasagna usually good was very dry last time and the Calzone's flatter to deceive with their bulging center proving often to be air-filled only. The actual taste of the Calzone is generally pretty acceptable but it tends to get eaten rather quickly and is certainly not the best around. Garlic Bread is another one that is a bit of a let down. The price is extremely good initially but once you start getting stuck in, it soon becomes apparent that the garlic bread contains very little garlic and is really just salty cheese on toast.

Like I say, the prices are about the best thing about it and you can expect to pay abou 50-60zl (12.50-15 quid) for 2 meals, some not so garlic bread and drinks.

My suggetion is to walk on by and turn left at the top of Nowolipki to be greeted by Cafe Furkot i(also reviewed) instead.
