Ore House

The Ore House is a Steakhouse located in downtown Durango, which has been around for just about forever. Five of us (four adults, one child) dined this evening. Since it has been around forever the inside shows it's age, both in the feel of the dining area which is a little cramped feeling and very dark, and in the restroom facilities (very small and hard to access. Completely impossible for someone in a wheelchair).

We skipped appetizers on this evening and went straight to entrees/salad bar. The salad bar is pretty basic, nothing special to note, but adequate if your not trying to make a meal off of it. Entrees were Lobster, scallops, ribeye, salmon, and chicken for the youngster. I had the 10oz ribeye special which was very tasty, the only negative is that I would prefer a thicker steak smaller in diameter. I have found however that most of the restaurants around here go for thinner cuts of meat that fill the plate, they just don't have the flavor of a thicker cut! If you order a baked potato be cautious of ordering it with "everything", this is the southwest and "everything" will include green chiles. Everyone else enjoyed their meal and gave it a thumbs up. We did not order from the wine list, or do dessert so no comment on those areas.
