After finding out that my favorite Sunday brunch place, Harry’s Steakhouse, was closed in observance of Martin Luther King Jr Day, I was a little hard up. Luckily I found this website called Yelp.com and found a list of locations in the city where all you can drink champagne cocktails run ramped. So one of the top recommended places was Sette in Chelsea and it seemed like it had what we were looking for. Now, I would highly suggest a reservation because they didn’t enjoy us coming in without one and taking a great table by the window and then not really leaving. But let me not get ahead of myself.
When we got to Sette, only three of our four person party were there, so, what I assume was the manager, told us that since we all weren’t there yet. Then, not two minutes later, a waiter came by and took the three of us to an open table and allowed to start drinking while we waited. He said that it was rude to stand and we might as well enjoy ourselves while we waited. He brought over three large wine glasses filled with Mimosas and Bellinis while we waited. I had not expected a huge, 20 ounce or even more glass of champagne. We ended up waiting a little longer than anticipated (25 minutes) but they were really cool about it.
After we were all finally together, and our order placed, it didn’t take too long for the food to come. I went with the Eggs Benedict with a crab cake and it was amazing. I had expected the crab cake to be with the egg and English Muffin, but it inside took up its residency in between the egg tower and the spicy potato compliment. But don’t get me wrong, it was amazing, as if an explosion of flavor took place in that small nook in front of the restaurant. After our main dishes, we all resorted back to the liquid meals that kept getting refilled by our amazing waiter. But we felt a little bad about taking up the table, however if you offer an all you can drink deal, be prepared for people to linger, so we ordered up a little dessert. We got one Nutella filled crape and a chocolate mousse thing. They were amazing, but the crape took the proverbial cake and it was so good that we had to get another.
Anyway, this place was amazing and truly opened my eyes to the idea that there are more brunch all you can drink places in the city that are worth visiting and thanks to Yelp.com I will exploring all of the ones that I can. But if you are in Chelsea and are looking for a decent brunch deal, please swing by Sette for an amazing time. Its only between $8 and $11 for a meal and then the all you can drink deal is an extra $10 and so worth it. Enjoy.
