Grande Cru at Yacht Haven Grande
Grande Cru lived up to my expectations. It was definitely the type of restaurant I enjoy the most. The ambiance was relaxed, yet the service of top-notch. We enjoyed everything we ordered. For appetizers we ordered the Curry chicken dolmas with mustard tossed zucchini with caramelized onion Sambuca marmalades and the Tuna and fennel tartar with feta, tomato, cucumber and cardamom turmeric oil. For dinner we ordered Filet of Beef with lemon, rosemary and grape seed oil over gorgonzola creamed spinach and crispy caraway potatoes and flamed salmon with curried zucchini, charred calabazza and a red grape, feta cheese and pine nut relish. Every bite was better than the next.
We were surprised at how much we enjoyed the martinis as well. I had the
“Birdland”, which was made with pineapple vodka, simple syrup, lemon, with a sugar rim. And if all this doesn’t make your mouth water, you simply can’t go to Grande Cru and not try the chocolate espresso martini. To die for!
There were so many things we’d wished we’d tried. Here’s a few just to tease your pallet:
* Pistachio basil crusted goat cheese on local greens with Caribbean honey and truffle vinaigrette
* Avocado, grilled hearts of palm and roasted corn with chiffonade of greens and roasted pepper vinaigrette
* Scallops, shrimp and black mussels with percatelli pasta, parsley, roasted pepper, artichoke, lemon zest and crispy parmesan
* Grilled lamb sausage burger with fire-roasted sweet pepper and smoked mozzarella cheese on a ciabatta roll
* Parmesan flying fish on a grilled soft roll
with lemon aioli and fried caper
Overall the Grand Cru was very valuable for the money, not only because of the tasty dishes, but the portions were very fair as well. Not only would we recommend this restaurant to others, we would put this at the top of our favorite restaurant lists.
