Best Meal of our Trip to New York

  • September 8, 2008
  • Rated 5 of 5 by Dina10 from Adelaide, Australia
Being a fan of Gordon Ramsay's shows (Hell's Kitchen, Kitchen Nightmares and The f Word), I knew I wanted to eat at his restaurant during our trip to New York.

This restaurant is located at the Hotel London. It consists of a cafe-style restaurant (called Maze by Gordon Ramsay) and then there's the main fine dining restaurant (called Gordon Ramsay). I had to book 2 months in advance to get dinner on a Saturday night at 9:45pm... it was well worth it!

Upon arriving at the restaurant, we were led into the room, which instantly felt like a 5-star restaurant. We had to try the 7 course degustation menu and it was the best meal we had ever tasted... each course was served to perfection... the waiters were very professional, polite and ensured we were enjoying our meal.

The meal was everything i imagined it to be and although the price of the meal is high, it was well worth it because i had never experienced such great service and delicious food - definiately a restaurant to visit if you love great food, Gordon Ramsay or both!

Wonderful Dishes at Maze

Although the tiny dishes at Maze are minicual to look at, they're packed with amazing flavor. We started our meal with two small dishes, a liquified BLT and a red beet & ricotta dish. Next we moved on to fish. My salmon tartare and his tuna and swordfish chateurrie, little slices of heaven. Splitting the lobster and apple dish made for a nice treat. Finally ending on dessert,, the chocolate masterpiece I had was miles beyond the rice pudding, which was tasty but nothing spectacular. Twas Well worth the hefty price tag.

Don't walk past this restaurant!

Hotel restaurants have come a long way! But when you're a hotel restaurant in New York City, the competition is particularly tough and the bar is set that much higher. Gordon Ramsay at The London NYC has received the enviable distinction of being listed in Forbes Magazine's
"The Forbes 2007 All-Star Eateries in New York"
This is a once-a-year distinguished rating that most restaurants would kill for. This issue has bestowed upon them the highest rating of 4-stars. Dining there while we were in New York was a wonderful and delicious culinary experience. The food is perfectly prepared and beautifully presented at the table. The entire staff offers professional service at an impeccable level. The restaurant maintains an enviable wine list.

The restaurant also maintains 24 hour room service for the hotel. I ordered a light breakfast the following morning and found that my order was delivered promptly and efficiently by a very gracious staff member
