Description
This 35 years old bar and restaurant is just like Sao Paulo, it never sleeps and gets all kind of people living together in the same space. Open 24 hours in downtown, its a reference and a meeting point at late nights for artists, journalists, politicians and businessmen but also for low lives in general, “go-go girls” or just hungry people arriving from the clubs, looking for good food on a reasonable price and one last beer for the road.
The most famous sandwich is the delicious Pernil (bread with smoked pork legs, green peppers, onion and tomato sauce) which has been done and served by this guy Amaral at least for the last fifteen years.
On Tuesdays and Fridays it’s even possible to have a traditional feijoada at five in the morning. I have never been there on lunch time or during daylight though, when it is frequented mostly by the people who works in the area.
It looks like a simple and kind of dirty bar but that’s the place I like to bring every newcomer to show them what Sao Paulo is all about. The same way my friends introduced me to the place when I arrived in the city a decade ago.
