Description: The Duck Blind, which is really an alcohol establishment, is my second choice in town for great food, Jasmine Asian Café’ being my first. The Duck Blind has a huge menu with food most folks here are familiar with, along with some items not usually seen in Seattle, Washington, like Rocky Mountain Oysters (deep-fried testicles).
All the food I have ordered, which is usually to-go because I do not enjoy smelling cigarette smoke while I eat, nor exposing my family to second-hand smoke, has been extraordinary. The kitchen here puts out the best food in town for their fare.
From cheeseburgers to nachos, gizzards, livers, testicles, Kansas City Strips, catfish, fries, chicken, or specials, the Duck blind always serves up great looking dishes that look like they need an ice cold beer or a stiff one to wash ‘em down with. This is part of the beauty of this place; if you want a burger and a beer, or a drink instead, you’re in luck. Also, if you want to light up a cigarette after your meal there are yet no laws against that.
The Duck Blind’s alcohol business appears to do well. It is the only local bar, which serves both beer and alcohol, and in which a membership is not required. (VFW) The other establishment in town is a 3.2 bar (3.2 alc. %) or below, and is required to close at midnight.
Despite the smoking, the occasional guy who’s had a few too many, and the occasional “F” Bomb, many folks around these parts frequent this establishment for dining with their families, especially on Friday and Saturday nights when the specials are kicked up a notch. It is no wonder; their food rocks!
The Duck Blind stands alone in Stockton when it comes to great food for a great price. They close from 2pm to 5:30pm, which means order early or wait until 6pm like everyone else does around here to eat supper, or go to the Jasmine Asian Café’ between those hours. Like most of the town, it is my understanding they are closed on Sundays.
The people working here are great, and despite serving some folks who do not have the word ‘tip’ in their vocabulary, they treat everyone equal and nicely. They deserve gratuity for their excellent skills, as do all people in this profession. I’ve yet to see a screw-up on the cash register area of the Duck Blind. Applause
