Richard Walkers is one of those pancake houses that when you are away from town you start to really crave and miss.
Opening at 6am and staying open until at least 9pm most days, you can get your breakfast fix at any time of the day. Like most specially pancake houses, they are known for their Oven Baked Apple pancake. A creation so large, and yummy, that it has to be shared. The same can be said for the German pancakes (although they do a Dutch Baby which is a bit smaller in size if you really don't want to share or have left overs!). They also do all the other breakfast fixin's as well...eggs, fluffy omelettes (with stuffings galour!) crepes, various other forms of pancakes as well as sandwiches, a pasta dish, and desserts.
Their coffee is a rich an fragant blend and sure to kick start any day. Their hot chocolate is surely from a machine but they must use lots of chocolate powder in there, cause it's good. Service is quick and done with a smile. As soon as you sit glasses of water appear, quickly after that a waiter/waitress with coffee is making the rounds. Orders are taken and delivered swiftly. On a weekend morning the staff know how important this quickness is...with lines of hungry people spilling out the door, they make sure to get people in and served fast. Although, that's not to say they rush you. There is a good balance found here.
Booth seats are comfy and the restaurant is kid friendly (complete with activity sheets and crayons). Prices are very reasonable. The apple pancake is around $8 and the German pancake is around $9 each but can feed two no problem! Regular pancakes, omelettes, etc. range from $5-$7.
Get there early on a weekend or be prepared to wait at least 20 minutes for a table. Unfortunately they do not take reservations - but like I said before, the turn over is quick and it is surely worth the wait!
