After a relaxing day of sunning and swimming, there is nothing more relaxing then a strong rum drink in a local bar. The place that we hit up was a bar called Myett’s. Recommended to us by the taxi driver, this place was “the” place at Cane Garden Bay and made a mean rum drink. A circular restaurant situated at the top of the beach and completed shaded from the sun, this was a haven on days when the winds made their residency on different parts of the island.
But before we could get crazy enough to celebrate our surroundings, it was the smart move to grab a bite to eat. Now Myett’s, I was told by a local boy on the beach, was famous for their Conch Fritters, so that was definitely on my list now. The menu also suggested something that I had never had before; a mahi-mahi burger. I the fish that was so good they named it twice, on a burger with fries and some kind of unbelievable sauce, this was to die for.
Now on to the fun stuff; drinks. The taxi driver had mentioned two drinks that I must try, but not back to back, otherwise I wouldn’t make it out alive. The first one was the Myett’s Delight and the second was the Myett’s Sundowner. The Delight was dark rum mixed with all of the tropical fruits you can think of with just a little ice so as not to water down the drink or take away valuable rum space. The Sundowner is the small mixture of tropical juices mixed with Callwood rum, nutmeg and what I am guessing is cinnamon. This is a great drink, but damn, is it powerful!
And then, just as an added bonus, there is a local man who plays music until duck to really bring the festivities that start at night. Any island at night is a party scene, but the dusk celebrations are the best, so hang out and party with the locals and forget about the vacation and enjoy yourself.
