Description: Walk right through Malia, east, away from Stalidas, towards the archeological excavations, and you happen upon a quieter and more Greek side of Malia on its outer edges.
The Cretan Family restaurant makes the short walk worthwhile. We ate here twice on a lunchtime. The restaurant does little to Anglicise its menu choices, remaining typically Greek. Great choices of salad, meat and fish dishes at good prices in an open-air setting. At midday it’s an absolute sun-trap, but there are some shaded tables due the trees in the forecourt.
The family who own it are very friendly and will be happy to advise you on your menu choice.
Strangely, for a relatively small, family-run place, I found that they have a web site, and here it is ... Cretan Family.
It seems the same family also own the holiday apartments just along from the restaurant too.
