Alpine Inn

The Alpine Inn is THE place to go in Hill City. It's a popular destination for prom dates, as well as countless locals and travelers. It's open for lunch from 11am to 2:30pm, and dinner from 5pm to 10pm.

In summer you're probably going to have to wait for a table. If you're with a group, you're definitely going to want to make reservations.

The lunch menu is extensive. There are German specialties available, such as Schnitzel Spackle Sauerkraut, but there is also a huge list of sandwiches.

The dinner menu is set: a chunk of iceberg lettuce with their special dressing (everyone says it's amazing; I've never tried it) and your choice of a 6 oz. or 9 oz. Filet Mignon with Texas toast and a baked potato. People love it.

The dessert menu is extensive and is offered at lunch and dinner -- and this is a large reason I go to the Alpine Inn! Almost everything is homemade, and the portions are huge. I love desserts, but even I agree that you have to share these -- it's just too much for one person.
