My friends and I dined here in Jan of 2008 and were amazed!
We had the Cajun shrimp and mushroom risotto as appetizers and the risotto was absolutely sublime. As entrées we had the lamb that I think had a cinnamon gravy of sorts, very tender and good. Pork chop with a mushroom and brandy sauce, this was ok as it had a lot of fat on it and it wasn't quite cooked to our taste but the sauce was yet again mouthwatering. I had fish in a shrimp gravy that was to die for... If we had been alone in the restaurant I would have licked the plate clean! We had green beans and roasted potatoes to go with the dishes that were also very tasty. For dessert we had an apple crumble pie that I thought was ok but the rest of the table loved it. Overall I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is planning on visiting Placencia. We had a total of 2 appetizers, 4 entrées and 4 desserts along with 5 sides and a bottle of wine. We paid a total of $250 for everything. Considering the quality of the food it was well worth it!

This is a real find. Just opened in an alley off the sidewalk opposite the turn for the Barefoot Beach Bar this is way above the average for Placencia or probably Belize. Marcus the young English chef was trained in London, Rome and France and this really shows. The food would easily rate a Michelin star in my home country of France and, while not a barefoot beach place, this is a great place to find some cool sophistication and really amazing food when you are tired of shrimp wraps and rice and beans! To start we had wonderful subtle garlic soup and a to-die-for tomato and goats cheese tart. Full of flavour and as light as air. To follow we had lobster and grouper brochette and a quite sublime wild mushroom risotto. Olives and Marcus' home made bread (which locals fight over) come as part of the deal. Desserts are just a good, we had poached pear in red wine and creme brulee You can also have the wonderful ice cream from Tutti Frutti in the village which is reviewed elsewhere. There is a small but good wine list with a Chilian Cabernet at about $US25 but with some real treats for not too much more. Front of house is run by Marcus' Swedish wife Anna and is smooth and friendly. Overall prices are , in my mind too cheap in this, their first year. The meal above cost me about the same as a basic chicken curry and a few beers at the Pickled Parrot up the road. Go quickly before they up their prices. We would go there again (and again) and indeed we did.
