Christina's on the Danforth

I like Greek food, so I was excited when I found out that all my friends would be meeting at Christina's for a late night get-together. From the moment I stepped into the building, I was delighted. From the beautifully painted walls to the music, this restaurant makes you feel like celebrating. And the food is fresh and delicious.

My partner and I decided to share some appetizers: the dolmades (we always get the dolmades); the saganaki (kefalograviera cheese flambéed in brandy!); and the taramosalata (some kind of caviar dip.) I was especially enamored with the dolmades—particularly because they served them warm. They were some of the best dolmades I've ever had. The taramosalata was rich and salty and served with a nice stack of pita bread. The flambéed cheese was delicious (although a little oily). A friend of ours referred to the flambéed cheese as "heart attack on a plate," but hey, it was really good. As I eyed the other plates on the table, I wished I had ordered some seafood. The calamari looked really good.

After eating and drinks, the dancing began. Our group was a little rowdy on the dance floor, but the staff took it all in stride. I was charmed by the way the servers could gracefully glide around the crowded dance floor to the tables while balancing several plates and never miss a beat. What skill!

I understand that Christina's features regular bellydance performances, but we arrived too late to catch a performance… maybe next time.
