Ibiza Food and Wine Bar

When I eat in my hometown of Houston, it's usually Mexican, barbecue, or some other local specialties. On Dec 29, 2006, just before going to a Houston Rockets game, we ate at Ibiza, a great place for contemporary tapas and unique main plates. These are not typical traditional tapas plates, and I really didn't find any typical tapas dishes except for the Spanish olives, Serrano ham, and Manchego cheese. It's a large restaurant and much bigger than NYC tapas places, which all seem really small!

For our small plates, we enjoyed a peppercorn crusted tuna ($12), grilled shrimp with crabmeat cornbread and tasso cream ($11), and Spanish Piquillo Peppers stuffed with smoked duck breast and pistachios ($11). We split a Caesar salad and 6-hour braised lamb shank, which was a large portion and very delicious. I wish I had eaten less so I could have had some nachos or hot dogs at the Rockets game! The service was friendly, and price was about $93 for two people including tax and tip.
