We were saving this restaurant for our last night, given all the rave reviews. "Ze Kitchen" is a high-end gourmet restaurant with an art gallery decor, which can be kind of intimidating – all the clients were so young and beautiful! Although that isn't a crowd we normally hang around, we didn’t feel out of place. We found the service to be professional, but not chummy, which is perfectly suited to the situation. The food was very interesting, far from traditional. It's definitely a culinary adventure. Ze Kitchen offers an Asian-fusion menu, with some unexpected flavor mixtures. By far the most exotic dish my husband tried during our trip (he’s a real meat-and-potatoes guy) was the appetizer of escargot simmered in a chicken broth, flavored with wasabi – and he liked it! His entrée was Asian-style fish fillet over a vegetable risotto. I started with a tiny seafood ravioli appetizer, then had the pork with a spicy Thai sauce. Those were all delicious.
The recommended wines were exquisite, and the wine list pricey. As expected, the food presentation is very artfully done and the portions small, but the prices high (€150 for two with aperitifs and wine). Perhaps it’s not the type of dining experience for everyone, but if you like gourmet and chic restaurants, this one’s for you!
