Amazing Experience, Amazing Food

I agree wholeheartedly with P Nelson - a trip to Bogota is not complete without having dinner at Club Colombia. The restaurant lit up at night is a sight you'll cherish after your trip, it's simply magical seeing the lights hanging from the trees outside. This is also an ideal place to experience traditional Colombian food. For an appetizer (meat eaters) try the chicherones - chunks of fried pork. If you're not a meat eater (and I'm not) they serve empanadas that will knock your socks off and a traditional dish that's a plantain with cheese - it sounds crazy but it's addictive. The service is impeccable and the decor in this restaurant cannot be compared to anything in North America. Don't miss this place!

Club Colombia

This experience starts as you enter the driveway of Club Colombia. A Koi pond and a mature tree with lit baskets make you feel as though you were just invited to visit a dignitary at his/her exquisite residence.

It must have been a grand home at one time, but now it is a grand restaurant! There are seating areas that invite conversation and sharing throughout the lower floor. There is also outside seating with fabric covered patios that reminded me of what I expect a Sheik might have if living in this green and lush valley.

Club Colombia the restaurant also shares this name with a locally produced beer. I expect they are managed by the same company or person.

The atmosphere set with rich wall coverings and the dark wood casings, ceilings, features I have come to expect in this part of the world. These just seem to be a notch higher in quality.

To be honest I was so impressed with the restaurant structure and grounds I hardly remember eating. I got a beef dish of some sort and was happy with the taste, but it merely distracted me from my primary interest of investigating this incredible retreat.
