King's Hawaiian Local Place Restaurant

This is the fast service version of the King's Hawaiian Bakery & Restaurant. The Local Place is on Western, opposite of South Bay Toyota, just south of the 405 Freeway in Torrance.

The restaurant has a fairly good sized bakery section with a display of scrumptious exotic pastries and cakes, as well as more common baked goods like turnovers and donuts. The bakery section also has several shelves of King's Hawaiian's famous bread, and variants with raisins, and coconut, and other yummy combinations.

You order off their menu board and are given a number, and the staff will bring your food to you. Most of the fare is under $10 and has such items as Hawaiian bowls, burgers, and sandwiches. I ordered a teriyaki chicken burger with fries, and my friend ordered a breaded teriyaki pork bowl.

The cost was about $12 for the two entrees and two drinks. We found a seat and waited about 5 minutes before our lunches were brought out to us. my teriyaki chicken burger was nice and sweet, the way I like it. My friend's breaded teriyaki pork bowl was quite good too.

We were a bit too full to order any dessert from the bakery counter. I purchased a danish and loaf of macadamia-coconut Hawaiian bread to go. The total cost was $6. Yes, it costs a bit more than your local bakery, but then again, this is King's Hawaiian!
